What is the COVID Cancellation Policy?

If this event is cancelled due to COVID-19, runners will be give then option of a virtual race (with all of the swag, shirts and medals), a full refund – $10 transaction fee, or a 100% deferment credit applied to the 2022 Montgomery Half Marathon/5k.

Will the concession stands in Riverwalk Stadium be open for business to the general public?

Due to COVID, there will be no post-race activities. After the race, participants will receive their finishers medal, a water bottle, and a snack bag. If you want to stick around, we ask you to spread out. Masks will be required.

How do I volunteer for the Montgomery Half Marathon?

Email hardy@montgomerymarathon.com with all your contact information and the area where you would like to volunteer.

Where can I park?

Downtown is filled with plenty of parking. The meters will be turned OFF so you can park at the ones that do NOT have a sign. Parking decks are available and are within walking distance from the start and finish lines.  Biscuits parking lots #1-#4 will be available up to 6:45am and you have to enter from Madison onto S. McDonough. Starting line will be on the corner of Tallapoosa Street and Coosa Street.

Can a friend pick up my packet for me if I cannot attend the packet pickup?

Yes, all they need is a copy of your driver’s license (picture of the ID on your phone works!). You can pick up your packets from 12-6 pm on Friday, the 12th, or from 6-7:30 am on Saturday, the 13th.

Can I pick up my participant packet and T-shirt on the day of the race?

Yes. New this year – if you are unable to pick up your packet on Friday, the 12th, from 12 – 6 pm, you can pick up everything on Saturday, the 13th from 6 – 7:30 am. If you are unable to do this, please contact the Race Director.

Do I have to pick up my participant packet, and T-shirt at the EXPO?

All participants must pick up their event-issued bib number, timing device, and t-shirt at the designated packet pick-up times. You can also pick up a friend’s packet if they cannot make it by providing a copy of their ID (pic on your phone works!). Packet pick-up times are Friday, the 12th, from 12-6 pm and Saturday, the 13th, from 6-7:30 am. Due to COVID, if you choose to do a virtual race, you can have your swag bag mailed to you for $15.

If I am a vendor interested in purchasing booth space at the EXPO, or if I am interested in promoting my race, product, charity, etc., in the participant bag, who should I contact?

There will not be an EXPO this year due to COVID.

Where and when is the EXPO and Packet Pick-Up?

Packet pickup will be at Riverwalk Stadium. It will be on Friday (noon – 6 pm) and Saturday morning (6 am – 7:30 am). There will not be an EXPO. Participants will show up and pick up their bag which will include a bib, shirt, and swag. There will be no bib check. We ask everyone to wear a mask and social distance.

Are the courses stroller friendly?

We welcome strollers with small children for both races.

Are skates, skateboards, bikes or scooters of any kind allowed on the Montgomery Half & 5K?

No, if you are caught on the course with any of these, you will be directed off the course immediately.

How long is the course open?

4 hours.

Will the course be closed?

No. However, the Montgomery Police Department and our volunteers will be at major intersections to help control the flow of the runners.

If nature calls, where do I go?

We will have porta potties at each water stop.

How many water stations are on the course?

Water stations will be located at miles: 2, 4, 6, 9, 10 & 12. All water stops will consist of small, sealed water bottles on a table (self-serve). Volunteers will keep the tables stocked and will collect the trash (please help with this). It is our suggestion that everyone brings their own hydration if you don’t want the extra time/effort of picking up a bottle, opening, etc.

Can I switch races?

Switching from one event to another is only permitted 7 days prior to race day, or until the event into which you wish to switch is sold out, whichever comes first.  You pay the difference in price between events if you are going longer. If you switch after medal, shirt and custom bib deadlines, you will not get the medal, shirt, and bib for the race you want to switch to.

I didn’t receive/deleted a payment confIrmation e-mail after I registered. Can you resend it to me?

Check your SPAM folder first. Then click “contact” in the menu if you are unable to find it.

How can I make a change to my registration information (i.e. misspelling, address, e-mail, T-shirt size)?

Contact us by clicking “contact” on the menu.

Is there an age requirement to run the Montgomery Half & 5K?

You must be 17 or older on race day to run in the half marathon.  If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver in order to participate.  Open age for 5K.

Can I defer my entry to next year if I am unable to run this year?

No, participants cannot defer their entries to the next year in the event they are unable to run.

If I provide medical documentation of my injury or pregnancy, will you give me a refund?

No. Please refer to our official event rules and guidelines.

I am injured and/or cannot run the event. Can I get a refund, donate my entry or transfer my entry to someone else?

No.  Per our official event rules and guidelines: sale, transfer, or duplication of race entry/bib is strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning of any individuals involved from future events.  All entry fees are non-refundable and cannot be deferred toward a future event.

How can I confIrm my registration after I sign up online or mail in my registration form?

Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation email.  Check your SPAM folder.

When is the Montgomery Half Marathon & 5K?

The 2021 Montgomery Half Marathon & 5K will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Will there be an athena and clydesdale division?

No.

Is there a time limit to complete the Half?

There is a 4 hour time limit for the half marathon (18:19 minute mile pace.) For the half, we will record and publish times up to 4 hours and 5 minutes. After that time no runner will be counted as an official finisher of the race and the finish line timing equipment will be removed. 5-Mile mark: Anyone slower than 1 hour and 35 minutes 10-Mile mark: Anyone slower than 3 hours and 10 minutes If you do not reach these check points, you will be picked up. If you choose to continue, you will sign a waiver.

Where does the race start and fInish?

The race starts in front of the water tower on Tallapoosa Street.  The race ends in The Riverwalk Stadium.

What time does the race start?

We will have a rolling start. You can start your race (Half and 5K) at your leisure anytime between 7-8 am. We are using a chip start and a chip finish system. Please wear your mask and maintain social distancing in the start area.

Are the races chipped time?

We are using a chip start and a chip finish system.

Do I get an age group medal?

Yes.  Only if you placed. 

Do I get a medal?

Yes.  Half marathon and 5K FINISHERS will get a medal.
